Brighton kitchens
Kitchen Remodeling in Brighton, MI
Seghi Renovations designs and builds kitchen remodels for Brighton homeowners, from new cabinets and countertops to complete layout changes. One design-build team handles your floor plan, 3-D design renderings, selections, permits and construction, so you have one point of contact from the first sketch to the final walkthrough.
Kitchens built for the way Brighton lives
Brighton is really several kinds of neighborhoods in one. Close to downtown, homes sit near Main Street and Grand River, a short walk from the Mill Pond, and many of their kitchens were sized for a different era. Out in Brighton Township, larger homes on bigger lots often have room for a true working island, a walk-in pantry or a breakfast area that opens to the yard. And with the Brighton Recreation Area and its inland lakes nearby, plenty of Brighton families live in lake homes where the kitchen is the busiest room in the house all summer long.
We plan every kitchen around the home it lives in. In a compact in-town kitchen, that might mean smarter cabinet storage, better lighting and a layout that finally lets two people cook at once. In a township home, it might mean a large island built for entertaining. In a lake home, it means durable surfaces and flooring that can handle wet feet, sand and a steady stream of guests.
What a Brighton kitchen remodel can include
- Detailed floor plans and 3-D design renderings before any work begins
- Custom and semi-custom cabinetry, including islands and pantry storage
- Countertops in quartz, granite and other natural and engineered materials (see our cabinets and countertops)
- Tile backsplashes, lighting and under-cabinet lighting
- Flooring installed in the right order, before the new cabinets go in
- Layout changes, including opening walls between the kitchen and living spaces
Permits for Brighton kitchen remodels
Cosmetic updates like new cabinet doors or paint usually don't need a permit. Moving plumbing, adding circuits, running a gas line or taking out a wall does. For most Brighton-area homes, permits and inspections run through the Livingston County Building Department in Howell. One thing to watch: some homes with a Brighton mailing address actually sit in Green Oak Township, which runs its own building department. We confirm which office covers your address and handle the permits and inspections as part of your project.

Aging in place
Aging-in-place kitchens for Brighton homeowners
Seghi Renovations specializes in aging-in-place remodeling, and the kitchen is one of the best places to start. A well-planned kitchen lets you keep cooking, hosting and living independently in the home you love, now and for years to come. We design these kitchens to be safe and easy to use without looking clinical.
Many Brighton homeowners want to stay in their homes for the long haul, whether that's a house near downtown or a lake home they've loved for years. Planning an accessible kitchen now means you won't have to choose between your home and your comfort later.
- Pull-out shelves and drawers instead of deep, hard-to-reach cabinets
- Counters at more than one height, for sitting or standing
- Wider walkways that work with a walker or wheelchair
- Bright task lighting and under-cabinet lighting
- Slip-resistant flooring with smooth, level transitions
- Easy-grip cabinet hardware and lever-style faucets
